Verse of the Day: Exodus 34:14 NKJV
“for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
Our Saviour is fiercely protective of your love. He has chosen you, redeemed you by His blood, and cannot bear to see your heart divided by other affections. Christ’s love for you is so deep that He left heaven to save you, and He desires your whole heart in return. He is jealous of anything that draws your trust away from Him, whether it be reliance on your own strength, the wisdom of others, or your own works. When you place your dependence anywhere but on Him, it grieves His heart, and He may discipline you to draw you back into His loving arms.
This jealousy is not a burden but a comfort. It shows how deeply Christ values your relationship with Him. He longs for constant fellowship with you, and even when trials come, they often serve to wean your heart from the fleeting things of this world and bind you closer to Him. Let His loving jealousy remind you of His faithful protection, knowing that if He cares so deeply for your love, He will also guard you from all harm. May we keep our hearts devoted to Christ alone, shutting out the distractions of the world for the sake of our Beloved.
