Verse of the Day: 1 Peter 1:3-5 NKJV
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
As Children of God, we have a living hope - an inheritance (a rich possession or a large estate) we are born heirs apparent to. This inheritance is free gift of God our Father to His children. It is not obtained by works of the law. Some children might have been born into a great inheritance here on earth but missed it for different reasons. Our inheritance as described to us by Peter is reserved (kept, secured) for us in heaven. Not only that our inheritance is kept in heaven, God also keeps us as by His power as we journey in faith till the end.
Our inheritance is not liable to corruption. Corruption is a transition from better to worse; from life to death. God’s gift for us obtained through salvation is incorruptible . It does not contain death in any form. This inheritance is perfect. Our inheritance is undefiled (pure). It is free from sin and it is made ready for the undefiled. This inheritance is unfading. Its beauty endures.
We rejoice in this hope that we have even as we go through life on this side of eternity. In the midst of trials we remember we have a living hope - an inheritance so rich we can barely find right words to describe.
