Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 19:8 NKJV
“So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.”
When God strengthens us, He is not just offering us comfort or ease; rather, He is equipping us for action, preparing us to join in His work on earth. We see this pattern consistently in the Bible. When God provided sustenance to Elijah, it was not just to satisfy his hunger but to empower him for a challenging journey to Horeb, the mountain of God, where he would receive further direction. Similarly, after the meal with His disciples, Jesus gave Peter a mission to “Feed my sheep.” Here, physical nourishment led to a spiritual mission, showing that the grace and gifts we receive from God call us to respond with service.
This principle applies to all believers today. Just as rain and sunshine enable plants to produce food, God’s continual care in our lives is meant to inspire us to bear fruit for His glory. We are to be conduits of His love and grace, allowing the blessings we receive to flow outward in acts of service. If we only receive His gifts without using them for His purposes, we risk becoming stagnant, missing the fullness of life He desires for us. Like seeds kept in a dry container, unused gifts do not fulfil their intended purpose.
