Verse of the Day: 1 John 3:16 NKJV
“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
Love is more than an emotion or sentiment—it is an active choice. The Apostle John reminds us that the love of God was shown through action when Christ laid down His life for us. Similarly, we are called to love others through our actions, especially when we see a brother or sister in need. True love expresses itself in service, generosity, and selflessness. Often, the feeling of love follows the choice to act with love.
Many people feel that love has faded in their relationships, but the remedy is often to act in love. When we begin to serve others with kindness and put their needs above our own, God rekindles the flames of affection in our hearts. Love is not something we wait to feel; it is something we do because it reflects God's nature in us.
The ability to love in this way does not come from our own strength. Human hearts, on their own, are limited, and our natural love often falls short. But love that is rooted in God, the true source, is sustained by the Holy Spirit. As we abide in Christ and are filled with His Spirit, God’s love overflows through us. This divine love empowers us to love others, not out of convenience or natural affinity, but because we belong to God and He calls us to love as He loves.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, fill our hearts with Your love, a love that takes action and moves beyond feelings. Help us to love others as You have loved us, not just with words, but in deeds of kindness and compassion. Where there is hardness or hurt in our hearts, teach us to love even when it is difficult. Let Your Spirit guide us to reflect Your love in all we do.
