Verse of the Day: Matthew 5:13-14 NKJV
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Jesus didn’t ask us to become salt or light; He declared that we already are. This identity carries a profound responsibility. Salt and light signify distinctiveness. Salt preserves in a world prone to decay. If our faith decays, it’s ineffective. Light illuminates in darkness. If our faith resembles the darkness, it fails to guide.
To make an impact, we must embody and exhibit our Christian uniqueness. We cannot transform the world by mirroring its ways.
Salt and light also imply that the virtues described in the Beatitudes are meant to be demonstrated within the world, not apart from it. Often, we think these inner qualities can only thrive in seclusion, but Jesus calls us to practice them openly. Let us live out our faith, distinct and visible, as a testament to Christ in a decaying and dark world.

Father, Help us to embrace this identity and live out our faith with distinction. Strengthen us to preserve Your truth in a world that often decays and to shine Your light in the midst of darkness.
