Verse of the Day: Acts 12:5 NKJV
“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.”
There is another powerful story in the Bible about Peter, who was imprisoned and set to be executed the following day. To ensure he would not escape, Peter was guarded by four squads of soldiers. In response, the church prayed earnestly for him, likely pleading for his life to be spared after Herod had already killed James. God heard their fervent prayers and sent an angel to miraculously deliver Peter from the prison. Peter then went straight to the house where the church was praying for him.
When Peter knocked on the door, the believers did not initially believe it was him. Despite their earnest prayers, they did not expect such a miraculous deliverance. They might have been praying for strength and steadfastness for Peter, rather than expecting his miraculous release.
This story raises an important question for us: Are we praying without expectation of the answer? Do we truly believe that God can perform great deliverances for us?
