Verse of the Day: Hebrews 3:12-13 NKJV
“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin”
The importance of exhorting one another cannot be overstated. To exhort means to comfort, encourage or instruct one another in the doctrines of the Gospel so as to prevent unbelief or apostasy. The idea of exhorting one another should be daily - as long as life lasts. It should not be intermitted. This helps to keep us sharp and willing to obey God as opposed to becoming dull, heavy and sluggish in our faith.
Exhorting one another daily is based on the premise that we are in fellowship. If a believer falls out of fellowship, he/she lacks the support system the church is to keep him/her from becoming hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
We must be vigilant against the hardness of heart. As often as we indulge in sin, especially hidden sins, our hearts become harder and we become less sensitive to our sin. This keeps you further away from Jesus and you are prone to spiritual peril.
Are you actively exhorting or being exhorted within your community of believers? Make a decision
