Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 18:30 NKJV
“Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.”
Long before Israel reached a point of confusion and lack of conviction about God, Jeroboam had already led the people of the northern kingdom away from worshiping God at the temple in Jerusalem. The altar was broken down. There is no true worship or service without the altar. So, the first thing Elijah did was repair the broken altar.
The altar represents your walk and communion with God. Service is not primarily about activity, but about your relationship with God. There must be a revival of the times when your faith was strong and your walk with God was steadfast. Are there areas in your spiritual life that have been neglected or broken down? How can you begin to repair your altar and restore your communion with God? Seek out the ruins of your broken-down altar. You don’t need a new religion; you need to rediscover your faith in God.
