Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 18:21 NKJV
“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word”
The Israelites seemed to have lost their conviction to serve the living God. When Elijah asked them to choose whom they would serve, no one replied. It appeared they were confused. Elijah's question made it clear that the worship of Yahweh is different from the worship of Baal. Despite this, there was no objection and no repentance. They lacked the courage to either defend their position or change it. They were willing to live unexamined lives of low conviction.
The worship of Baal required an energetic prayer life. The followers of Baal had a devoted life. They prayed long and with so much passion when Elijah put them to the test. They showed great devotion to their religion, demonstrating disciplined practices directed toward gods apart from the living God.
It's time to return to God. It's time to redirect all our energy, passion and devotion to serving the living God.
