Verse of the Day: 1 Kings 18:21 NKJV
“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word”
The story of Elijah versus the prophets of Baal and Asherah was a pivotal moment when Israel had to decide whom they would serve. Faltering between two opinions is like birds hopping from bough to bough, unable to settle. The Israelites tried to combine the worship of God with the worship of Baal. They felt a connection to God but also embraced the state religion out of fear of Ahab and Jezebel.
In the words of Jesus, you cannot serve two masters. You need to choose whom you will serve. Many, like the children of Israel, want to serve God and avoid completely rejecting Him, yet they also want to indulge in rites that are sensuous and impure, like the worship of Baal. If you choose to serve God, then you must love Him with your whole heart.
Are there areas in your life where you are trying to serve two masters? Choose today to serve God
