Verse of the Day: Matthew 7:22-23 NKJV
“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
As we discussed yesterday, service is first a separation unto Jesus before engaging in activities. One cannot be without the other. Jesus highlighted the importance of being with Him when He spoke of those who will say they did exploits in His name, yet He will respond that He doesn’t know them because they are workers of iniquity (Matthew 7:22-23). They did great things and achieved results, yet Jesus will say He doesn’t know them.
Being with Jesus transforms us into those who practice righteousness. Our call to service requires that our lives produce the fruit of repentance and righteousness. Service is about doing both the will and the work of the Father.
Are there areas in your life where you have prioritised activity over intimacy with Jesus?
