Verse of the Day: 1 John 2:1 NKJV
“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”
In our walk of faith, we are confronted with the reality of sin. Even as believers, we may stumble and fall into sin from time to time. Yet, John reminds us that while sin may occur, it should not be our habitual practice. He desires that we live in victory over sin, empowered by the resources available to us in Jesus Christ.
God's desire for us is holiness and righteousness. He provides us with all the necessary tools for spiritual victory. Our fellowship with God is precious, and sin has the potential to disrupt that fellowship. Therefore, John urges us to be vigilant and mindful of sin, striving to live lives that honour God.
It is important to recognise that our struggles with sin stem from the weakness of our flesh. While our spirits are willing to rely on Jesus for victory, our flesh may falter at times. Let us, therefore, pursue victory over sin with diligence and determination. Let us rely on the power of Christ within us to overcome temptation and to live lives that bring glory to His name. As we do so, may our fellowship with God remain unbroken, and may we experience the fullness of His grace and mercy.
